The exhaust-gasses created by the fire in a brick-layered wood cooker don't have to exit immediately through the chimney, they can be led through a heated bench or heated wall.
On their way to the chimney they give their warmth to the surrounding bricks,
causing the heated bench and heated wall to warm up nicely.
That's why a massive brick-layered wood cooker doesn't have to be built directly
under the chimney.
It's also possible to add a water reservoir to a wood cooker. Our adobe-wood cooker has a reservoir that can contain approximately 4 gallons of water. The water is heated by the flames created by the fire. Using a small faucet the water can be released. This way there is always hot water after cooking.
A wood cooker can be added to an adobe-heater. The cooker can be placed facing the kitchen, while the heater warms up the living room.
If they are both heated at the same time, they need different chimneys.
